The penalty, the largest ever against a marketplace operator, stems from Temu's 2024 risk report, which the Commission deemed insufficient in identifying and mitigating risks such as the sale of dangerous products and unsafe chargers. Temu expressed disagreement with the decision, considering the fine disproportionate, while the Commission emphasizes that risk assessments are central to the DSA.
