"Norway has finalized funding for the Stad Ship Tunnel after a government attempt to cancel the project failed. The 1.7 km tunnel will bypass the hazardous Stad peninsula, where waves up to 30 m hinder navigation. Estimated cost is $888 million. Tenders are evaluated, construction is set to start in early 2027 and finish by 2032. The tunnel will be the first of its kind for ocean-going maritime traffic."
