"Denmark is building an artificial island in the North Sea to serve as a central connection point for offshore wind farms from several European countries. The North Sea Energy Island, 80-100 km off Jutland, will cost about €28 billion and be operated by Energinet. Initial capacity of 3 GW, expandable to 10 GW by 2040, enough for 10 million homes. The project also includes green hydrogen production. Part of the EU climate strategy, it faces delays to 2036 and pending environmental permits."
