0xBASE INTEL BRIEF
  • France's hottest day on record: over 44 °C on June 23, 2026.
  • Golfech nuclear plant unit 2 shut down due to warm cooling water.
  • Five UK gas plants reduced output by 2.5 GW.

"A record-breaking heat wave in Europe is causing power plants to reduce or shut down output. In France, unit two of the Golfech nuclear plant shut down on June 22 when cooling water in the Garonne River became too warm. Other reactors are being ramped down. Five gas plants in the UK reported output reductions totaling 2.5 GW. Rising demand for cooling is straining grids. EDF estimates adaptation costs of €600 million per year."
