0xBASE INTEL BRIEF
  • WWA study: heatwave virtually impossible without climate change
  • Temperatures 5-12°C above normal, 45% of cities at record heat stress
  • Europe warming fastest at 2-2.5°C, adaptation limits reached

"A World Weather Attribution (WWA) study published June 26, 2026 finds the current Western European heatwave would have been virtually impossible 50 years ago without human-caused climate change. Temperatures are 5-12°C above seasonal norms, and the combination of heat and humidity increases heat stress risk. 45% of European cities have reached their highest recorded heat stress levels. Global warming of 1.4°C is already pushing European societies to their adaptation limits."
