"On June 24, 2026, France's national thermal indicator (ITN) reached 30°C, just 2.4°C below the Sahara median. Using NOAA GFS data, analysts found France was hotter than 30.8% of the Sahara. In hotspots like Palluau (44°C), France's hottest spots were hotter than 99.07% of the planet, per meteorologist Ben Noll (ECMWF data). A total of 353 absolute temperature records were broken. The heatwave is expected to move into Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Croatia, and Hungary."
