"The EU adopted its 21st sanctions package against Russia on July 24, 2026, for the first time directly targeting the crypto sector. Transaction bans were imposed on 14 crypto platforms in third countries including Georgia, Panama, UAE, and Belarus. The EU also introduced a mechanism to fully ban crypto services from third countries that systematically facilitate sanctions evasion. Russian nationals are prohibited from owning or controlling crypto service providers. Separately, 33 financial institutions were added to sanctions, the oil price cap adjustment was suspended, and 218 individuals/entities were listed."
