"On 27 May 2026, the German federal cabinet approved a requirement for streaming platforms and broadcasters with over €10 million annual revenue to invest 8% of their German advertising and subscription revenue into European audiovisual works. 60% must be new works, 80% must have a "German cultural imprint", and 70% must come from independent producers. Investments exceeding 12% exempt from quotas. Netflix has criticized the plan."
