"Researchers from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology have developed a hybrid lunar rover with wheels and a humanoid upper body. The 100 kg robot is designed to act as a porter on the Moon, collecting samples, transporting, and deploying instruments. Powered by solar energy and equipped with AI, 3D mapping, and remote vision, it is built for a two-year operational life. It will be part of the Chang'e-8 mission scheduled for 2028-2029, which aims to prepare the ground for the International Lunar Research Station (ILRS) at the lunar south pole, where water ice has been discovered."
