"At the 2026 IEEE ISCAS, Huawei's He Tingbo presented the Tau (τ) Scaling Law, a new principle for semiconductor evolution based on time scaling rather than geometric scaling. Huawei claims this law enables continuous transistor density improvements through technologies like LogicFolding. The company states it has designed 381 chips under this law over six years, with Kirin chips in Fall 2026 being the first to adopt LogicFolding. By 2031, high-end chips are expected to achieve transistor density equivalent to 14Å (1.4nm) processes."
