"An international team led by the University of Coimbra developed a formula for a more fuel-efficient Earth-Moon trajectory, saving 58.80 m/s delta-v. The optimal path passes through Lagrange point L1, improving fuel economy over all previous missions. Using functional connections theory, they ran 30 million simulations to find this route. While this is the cheapest calculated trajectory, it is not the absolute optimum due to the exclusion of solar gravity. The finding could significantly lower the cost of regular lunar travel."
