0xBASE INTEL BRIEF
  • Marmok A-5 deployed 12 May 2026 off Armintza
  • First grid connection via HarshLab at BiMEP
  • Improved turbine, batteries, and simplified mooring
  • 12-year development from 2012 to pre-commercial stage
  • Funded by Basque Energy Agency and EuropeWave EU programme

"The 42-metre steel buoy Marmok A-5 was deployed off Armintza on 12 May 2026 after 12 years of development. An improved oscillating water column device, it survived three winters of 14-metre waves in a previous campaign. Now with controllable turbine blades, intelligent control, and simplified mooring, it will connect to the grid via the HarshLab platform at BiMEP, aiming to prove wave energy can be commercially viable."
