"The General Affairs Council met on 26 May 2026 under the Cyprus Presidency. Key agenda items were preparation for the June European Council, the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF), EU-UK relations, and the rule of law dialogue. Cyprus presented a revised MFF negotiating box with numbers for the first time, aiming for agreement by end 2026. On EU-UK relations, progress was reported on Gibraltar, electricity trading, and UK participation in Erasmus+. The rule of law dialogue covered France, Latvia, Croatia, and Italy."
