"The German Bundesrat on July 10, 2026 approved the implementation of an EU directive requiring manufacturers of electrical appliances to offer repairs at reasonable prices. The law takes effect in stages, starting at the end of July 2026 for both new and old devices. Manufacturers must provide spare parts and tools at non-deterrent prices and may not install repair-obstructing technology. The warranty period extends by twelve months after a repair."
