0xBASE INTEL BRIEF
  • Test conducted June 1, 2026 at DGA EM Mediterranean site.
  • Missile launched from instrumented Rafale at supersonic speed (Mach >1).
  • Validates IR seeker performance against thermal contrast challenges.
  • Partnership includes MBDA, Dassault Aviation, French Air and Space Force.
  • First development firing occurred June 2025; this is second.
  • MICA NG replaces MICA, with dual-pulse motor and advanced seekers.
  • 200 missiles ordered initially, 567 planned overall.
  • Deliveries slipped from 2026 to 2030; no new deadline.

"On June 1, 2026, the French Directorate General of Armaments (DGA) conducted a successful firing of the MICA NG infrared-guided missile from a Rafale fighter in supersonic flight. This second development test validated the missile's complete chain under high thermal stress conditions. The MICA NG program, awarded to MBDA in 2018, produces two versions: infrared and electromagnetic. Initial deliveries, originally planned for 2026, are now expected in 2030. Further tests will explore various launch configurations."
