Document Foundation announces web and mobile strategy for LibreOffice (heise.de)

• New team for mobile, cloud, and peer-to-peer development established
• Browser version with WebAssembly and Qt 6 planned
• Android and iOS apps set as development targets
• Collaboration initially client-server, later peer-to-peer
• Security management to be expanded (OSS-Fuzz, Coverity)

"The Document Foundation (TDF) has unveiled a new strategy for LibreOffice, including browser and smartphone apps. A dedicated team for mobile, cloud, and peer-to-peer development has been formed. The browser version is based on a WebAssembly prototype with Qt 6. For 2026, test builds for Android and iOS are planned, along with initial collaborative editing tests. Desktop remains the primary focus."
