"According to calculations by the German Solar Industry Association (BSW-Solar) based on data from the Federal Environment Agency (UBA), German solar power between 2020 and 2025 replaced fossil fuel imports worth around €20 billion and avoided climate damage costs of up to €250 billion. Over the past 20 years, a net total of around 500 million tons of CO₂ equivalents were avoided, more than half in the last five years."
