- 208 GW gas capacity under construction/planned in US (30% of global)
"According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), global renewable energy investments will reach $2.2 trillion in 2026, nearly double fossil fuel investments. However, US natural gas investments are rising 34% while solar and wind drop 14% due to Trump's repeal of Inflation Reduction Act tax credits. The US will invest over $50 billion in coal and gas, China about $47 billion, Europe $12 billion. Nearly 30% of global gas-fired capacity under construction or planned is in the US (208 GW). These plants will power data centers, which account for over half of the 2% annual electricity demand growth through 2030."
