0xBASE INTEL BRIEF
  • CNBM unveiled mass production of T1200 carbon fiber at JEC World Paris.
  • Tensile strength >8 GPa, ten times stronger than steel, one quarter density.
  • China previously restricted by Wassenaar Arrangement; now has independent production.
  • PetroChina invested 1.3 billion yuan in Jilin carbon fiber project.
  • Applications include 5th/6th gen fighters, Boeing 787, Airbus A350, hydrogen tanks, drones.
  • China took <20 years from T300 to T1200; Japan took 43 years.

"China has started mass production of T1200 carbon fiber, the world's highest tensile strength grade. The material, developed by state-owned CNBM, exceeds 8 GPa and is ten times stronger than steel at a quarter of the weight. This breakthrough breaks Japan and US export controls under the Wassenaar Arrangement. Applications span military aircraft, commercial aviation, hydrogen storage, and drones. China's state-driven industrial model allowed it to close a 20-year gap in less than two decades."
