"Infineon has inaugurated its 'Smart Power Fab' in Dresden, a 5-billion-euro facility for power semiconductors used in EVs, renewable energy inverters, data centers, and consumer electronics. The EU contributed about 1 billion euros under the European Chips Act. The fab is the company's fourth module at the site, processing 300-mm wafers and thin wafers, and handling materials like gallium nitride and silicon carbide. Infineon plans to create around 1,000 new jobs, adding to 3,250 existing ones. The factory is part of Infineon's global network including sites in Austria, Malaysia, and the US."
