"The Bavarian finance ministry has terminated negotiations with Microsoft over a new framework agreement for the state administration. Digital Minister Fabian Mehring (Free Voters) prevailed against the ministry's plan to consolidate existing contracts. Open-source alternatives will now be trialed. The opposition SPD and Greens welcome the move but call for a comprehensive strategy. The decision aligns with a federal mandate to provide digitally sovereign solutions by March 2027."
