"The German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is gradually replacing Microsoft software with open-source alternatives. 5,000 employees have already moved from SharePoint to Nextcloud, with a long-term target of 50,000 public sector users. The platform runs on state-owned infrastructure via IT service provider DVZ M-V GmbH. The state cooperates with Schleswig-Holstein and uses European AI models like Mistral and Tilde to avoid US dependency. Windows PCs are not yet scheduled for replacement."
