0xBASE INTEL BRIEF
  • Intel outsources about 30% of its chip production to TSMC, including its most advanced lines.
  • TSMC is producing Intel's Lunar Lake and Arrow Lake chips, and will produce Nova Lake compute tiles on 2nm.
  • The dependency is structural due to Intel's historical node development delays, and Intel also supplies equipment to TSMC.

"Intel's CEO has confirmed that TSMC, its primary rival in the foundry business, is also an essential partner. Approximately 30% of Intel's chips are produced by TSMC, including the entire Lunar Lake line and most of Arrow Lake. Intel is among the first customers for TSMC's 2nm node, and production testing for Nova Lake's compute tile has begun at TSMC's Hsinchu plant. This dependency is structural, stemming from years of delays in Intel's own node development. Additionally, Intel sells chip-making equipment to TSMC, further intertwining the two companies."
