"ETH Zurich has unveiled a sensor chip that cryptographically signs image and audio data directly at the time of recording. This aims to make deepfakes impossible, as any subsequent manipulation can be detected. The chip is currently a prototype demonstrating feasibility. The technology builds on the C2PA standard already used in some cameras and smartphones, but offers hardware-based tamper-proof signing."
