"The Berlin Theatertreffen has decided to drop the women's quota for the 2027 and 2028 editions. The quota, in place since 2020, required at least half of the productions to be by women or female-led collectives. The new jury decided after extensive deliberation not to renew it. Jury members cited a rise in female directors and non-binary directors, and a desire to focus solely on artistic merit. The jury will instead publicly share observations on structural inequalities."
