Post-quantum cryptography support added to Python package pyca/cryptography (blog.trailofbits.com)
0xBASE INTEL BRIEF
- pyca/cryptography v48 includes ML-KEM and ML-DSA
- Funded by Sovereign Tech Agency
- White House order sets 2030/2031 deadlines
- Larger key sizes require protocol changes
"Trail of Bits has added ML-KEM and ML-DSA post-quantum algorithms to pyca/cryptography (version 48), the eleventh most-downloaded Python package on PyPI. Funded by the Sovereign Tech Agency, this enables quantum-resistant key establishment and digital signatures for the Python ecosystem. A White House order mandates US federal systems migrate to post-quantum cryptography by 2030-2031. The new primitives have larger key sizes and signatures, requiring protocol adjustments. SLH-DSA support is in development."
