0xBASE INTEL BRIEF
  • Denmark halts new large grid connections after 60 GW in requests
  • AWS project in Aragón surpasses region's total power use
  • Dublin data centers consume 80% of city's electricity; moratorium until 2028

"Europe is accelerating data center construction to achieve tech sovereignty, but its power grids are buckling under the load. Denmark suspended new large-scale connections after requests hit 60 GW. Spain’s Aragón region sees AWS projects that could exceed local electricity consumption. The FLAP-D hubs (Frankfurt, London, Amsterdam, Paris, Dublin) face overload: Dublin imposed a moratorium until 2028. Renewables alone cannot meet the constant, spiking demand; nuclear, gas, and coal are fallbacks, clashing with green goals. Grid connection delays can reach a decade."
