"The NATO strap, a simple yet iconic watch band with customizable stripes, has endured for over 50 years. Created by the British Ministry of Defence in 1973 for special forces, it was made of nylon, 20mm wide, and longer than standard bands. The name comes from the NATO Stock Number (NSN) used for standardization. Despite its name, the strap first appeared in James Bond's 'Goldfinger' (1964) was actually a regimental strap, but later Bond films used genuine NATO straps."
