0xBASE INTEL BRIEF
  • Nearly 50% of households had fiber optic access by end 2025
  • FTTB rose from 11.43% to 20.24%
  • Minister plans Telecommunications Act amendment

"According to the Broadband Atlas, nearly 50% of German households had fiber optic access (FTTB/FTTH) or the ability to get it installed short-term by end of 2025. The Digital Ministry reported an increase of six percentage points since mid-2025. FTTB saw the largest jump from 11.43% to 20.24%. FTTH is slightly above 40%. However, in multi-family buildings, fiber often ends at the building, not the apartment. Regional disparities persist: Schleswig-Holstein, Lower Saxony, and Bremen lead; Thuringia lags at 25%. Minister Wildberger announced plans to amend the Telecommunications Act."
