"In May 2026, Leclerc tanks from the French 5th Cuirassier Regiment conducted live-fire exercises in the UAE, firing 120mm OEFC high-explosive rounds at drone-simulating targets. This drill is part of the Leclerc modernization program aimed at improving protection against drones, mines, IEDs, and rockets. The French Ministry of Armed Forces had stated in March that modernization includes potential hard kill/soft kill systems.
