Arms Control, Disarmament and Non-Proliferation: NATO Policy (nato.int)
- NATO reduced nuclear weapons in Europe by 90%.
- Russia responsible for INF Treaty collapse and New START violations.
- NATO rejects Ban Treaty, upholds NPT.
"NATO reiterates its commitment to arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation, especially full implementation of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). Allies have reduced nuclear weapons stationed in Europe by over 90% since the Cold War peak. They support the NPT as the cornerstone of global non-proliferation, but reject the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (Ban Treaty). Russia's violations of the INF Treaty, New START, and other agreements are criticized. NATO promotes transparency via confidence-building measures and conventional arms control."
