0xBASE INTEL BRIEF
  • Sensitive data of tens of thousands of Swiss vehicle owners exposed.
  • Databases of Funkwache and Unisecur unprotected and accessible via simple URLs.
  • Swiss data protection authority investigates potential violations.

"A data leak involving two Swiss parking surveillance companies, Funkwache and Unisecur, exposed sensitive information of tens of thousands of vehicle owners. Unsecured databases containing names, addresses, license plate data, and fine records were accessible online without password protection. The misconfiguration, traced to a shared IT infrastructure using the Wakanda database tool, may have persisted since 2020. An IT expert confirmed that no advanced hacking skills were needed. The Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner has initiated investigations. The companies initially downplayed the severity but later confirmed and closed the vulnerabilities."
