"Ford Motor Company and Chinese automaker Geely Auto have agreed to establish a joint venture at Ford's plant in Almussafes, Valencia, Spain. Ford will hold 66% and Geely 34% of the new entity, with operations expected to start in the first half of 2027 subject to regulatory approvals. Production of five vehicle models is scheduled for 2028, including electric, plug-in hybrid, and range-extender variants. The plant has a capacity of 500,000 vehicles per year but is currently underutilized. The deal is driven by EU tariffs on Chinese EV imports and upcoming local content rules. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez is expected to announce the agreement personally."
