"Portuguese merchandise exports fell by 14.9% year-on-year in February, significantly outpacing the 6.3% decline in imports. According to the National Statistics Institute (INE), this divergence has widened the trade balance deficit by 489 million euros compared to the same period in 2025, highlighting underlying weaknesses in external trade demand and industrial competitiveness."
