"The Bavarian Digital Ministry under Fabian Mehring (Free Voters) is moving ahead independently of its coalition partner CSU, testing a 'sovereign basic workplace' without Microsoft. The goal is to equip about 40 employees (20% of the ministry) with such an environment by 2027. Solutions from the Center for Digital Sovereignty (ZenDiS) and the BayernCloudSchule will be used. The project aims to serve as a blueprint for the entire state administration. It comes amid a dispute with Finance Minister Füracker (CSU), who continues to rely on Microsoft. Schleswig-Holstein is cited as a pioneer."
