"Chinese company Geedge Networks is developing an AI system to predict which citizens might become political dissidents, according to leaked internal documents published by Vanderbilt University researchers and reported by the New York Times. The system uses large language models to synthesize browsing history, locations, online activity, and contacts to infer future 'political risk'. Geedge already exports surveillance technology (the 'Great Firewall') to Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Ethiopia, and Myanmar.
