He advises the NATO Secretary General on military matters, coordinates nuclear, biological, and chemical issues, and directs the committee in the chairman's absence. Shepro, a distinguished graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, is a command pilot with over 3,000 flying hours and 600 combat hours. He has commanded at squadron, group, and wing levels, led in Operation Iraqi Freedom, and held key joint and coalition staff positions, most recently as Vice Director for Strategic Plans and Policy (J5) on the Joint Staff."
