"NATO leaders met 7-8 July 2026 in Ankara, Türkiye, reaffirming Article 5 and a 360-degree deterrence approach. They noted over USD 139 billion in additional defence spending by European Allies and Canada since the 2025 commitment to reach 5% GDP by 2035. New initiatives include the NATO Front Door for Industry, a Strategy for Industry-NATO Cooperation, and over EUR 50 billion in procurement deals. EUR 27 billion was pledged for fuel infrastructure modernisation, and EUR 70 billion in military aid for Ukraine in 2026. The summit also addressed Iran's nuclear programme and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz."
