"On May 21, 2026, US metals company REalloys signed a definitive 15-year offtake agreement for 15% of Phase 1 output from the Tanbreez project in southern Greenland, one of the world's largest heavy rare earth deposits. The deposit is approximately 27% heavy rare earths, including dysprosium and terbium, critical for permanent magnets in F-35s, Tomahawks, drones, and EV motors. A Pentagon ban on Chinese-origin magnet material in US weapons takes effect January 1, 2027. REalloys operates one of few North American facilities converting heavy rare earth oxides into defense-grade metal in Ohio, with planned magnet manufacturing by 2029."
