"On 2 July 2026, the German Federal Prosecutor's Office indicted Serhii K., a Ukrainian national, for coordinating the sabotage of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines in September 2022. The prosecutor explicitly accused Ukrainian authorities of ordering the attack to cut off Russian gas revenues funding the war. Serhii K. was arrested in Italy in August 2025 and extradited to Germany. He is charged with war crimes for targeting civilian infrastructure."
