0xBASE INTEL BRIEF
  • ISAC turns radio networks into radar systems that capture movements and vital data without requiring end devices.
  • DSK warns of mass surveillance and demands privacy by design in 6G standardization.
  • ETSI identifies 19 risks, including unauthorized sensing and criminal misuse.

"Germany's data protection authorities (DSK) have warned that the 6G technology Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC) could enable mass surveillance. ISAC turns mobile and WLAN networks into radar systems that capture movements and vital data of everyone in range, including bystanders without devices. The DSK calls for privacy by design during 6G standardization, noting that individual consent is impractical for ubiquitous infrastructure. The European standardization body ETSI has identified 19 critical risks, including unauthorized sensing."
