Electrochemical Battery Raw Material Recovery (heise.de)
0xBASE INTEL BRIEF
- Strategic reduction of dependency on non-European raw material sources
- Higher material purity through electrochemical separation processes
- Scaling of laboratory results to an industrial pilot plant
"Fraunhofer IFAM has developed a novel electrochemical process for recovering critical raw materials from lithium-ion batteries. The method aims to increase the purity of recovered materials while reducing energy consumption compared to conventional thermal methods. Following successful laboratory tests, a large-scale pilot plant is now under construction to demonstrate the industrial readiness of the process."
