Algarvensis Geopark Joins UNESCO World Network (eco.sapo.pt)

• Designated as a UNESCO Global Geopark
• Covers three municipalities in the Algarve
• Part of a 241-site international network

"The Algarvensis Geopark, covering Loulé, Silves, and Albufeira, has been inducted into the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network (GGN). This inclusion marks Portugal's seventh site within the network, which currently encompasses 241 geoparks across 51 countries. This status is awarded based on the region's significant geological heritage and efforts to promote territorial sustainability and educational outreach."
