"Qurie GmbH, a spin-off from Fraunhofer IPM, is developing a solid-state heat pump using electrocaloric materials that heat up and cool down under electric fields. The system uses patented heat pipes for rapid heat transfer, achieving up to 20 Hz operation. It aims for >70% theoretical efficiency, 30% less energy use, and targets sub-10 kW applications like control cabinet cooling and residential heat pumps."
