JD.com to acquire German electronics retailer Ceconomy for €2.2 billion (scmp.com)

"JD.com, a leading Chinese e-commerce firm, has agreed to acquire Ceconomy, the German parent of MediaMarkt and Saturn, for €2.2 billion. The deal, expected to close in the first half of 2026, gives JD.com access to about 1,000 stores across Europe and a major online electronics marketplace. The Kellerhals family will retain a ~25% stake, and no compulsory redundancies are planned for three years. Fitch Ratings suggested the acquisition could improve Ceconomy's credit profile."
