"A Russian drone strike on the night of June 7, 2026, partially destroyed a building of the central spent fuel storage facility in the Chernobyl exclusion zone. Ukrainian state company Energoatom reported that no spent fuel was stored in the affected building and radiation levels remained normal. A 40-square-meter fire was extinguished. The IAEA called the incident extremely concerning, noting large amounts of nuclear material nearby, and will inspect the site."
