"Former EU commissioner Věra Jourová and other prominent figures, including leaders of the Yellow Vests movement, launched Democracy27 on 1 June to strengthen democratic participation and restore citizen trust in EU institutions ahead of the 2027 elections. The initiative responds to surveys showing 77% of Europeans value democracy but 64% are dissatisfied with its functioning. The group will produce a roadmap for democratic reforms."
