"On 18 May 2026, the Latvian Saeima approved the caretaker government of Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs with 66 votes in favour and 25 against. The four-party coalition includes New Unity, the National Alliance, the United List, and the Union of Greens and Farmers. It will serve until the October 3 elections. The previous government collapsed after months of disputes over the Istanbul Convention, accelerated by a drone incident near Rēzekne. The new cabinet prioritises air defence, airBaltic stability, and Rail Baltica."
