- Telekom enters bitstream agreements with e.discom and Wemacom covering 220,000 households
- Move marks shift from own infrastructure to renting capacity from regional operators
- Industry associations and local government welcome the cooperation as a boost to fiber competition
"Deutsche Telekom has signed long-term bitstream agreements with regional fiber network operators e.discom and Wemacom. This allows Telekom to offer its fiber tariffs over their connections in around 400 municipalities in Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, covering about 220,000 households and businesses. The move marks a departure from Telekom's usual strategy of building own lines or leasing dark fiber. Industry associations BREKO and VATM welcomed the cooperation and called for nationwide rollouts."
