"The European Parliament will replace Google with the French search engine Qwant as its default search engine, effective June 4, 2026. The change applies to searches via the address bar in Firefox and Edge browsers. The move is aimed at increasing digital sovereignty and data protection. Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) can manually revert to Google. The decision follows a demand from MEPs in autumn 2025 for greater independence from US software."
